What to do, what to do?

It's quite the beautiful day...

My photoshoot got canceled, my apartment is actually clean, my roomie left for the day, and now I have nothing to do.

I think I'll go to the market, pick up a nice cantelope and maybe walk around my island.

I'm kinda in a great mood even though my shoot got canceled.

Maybe I'll even start a new book.

PS...I finished The Time Traveler's Wife and I HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. It is SUCH a great book! I swear, even my guy friends that read it have loved it, too.

The Veronicas

It's been a busy week...and only getting more crazy this weekend. I have a friend up from Nashville, last night I had to shoot The Veronicas at Hiro Ballroom, tonight I begin my West Coast Swing classes (uh, hello, Lacey Schwimmer wannabe), tomorrow I have a photoshoot from 11:30 till about 7 at night, and Sunday I get to show my friend around NYC.

Let me just start by saying (in a very Justin Smith-kinda way), The Veronicas: totally cute. I just started listening to their music this week, and I love it! They might not be so well-known in the states, but in Australia they are like (as one of their managers? said) the "Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen of pop-rock music." Apparently, they're all over tabloids, fans go balistic, and everything down unda. Really, they're friggin' adorable. Check out this video our friend Ryan from Take the Crown is in (I bet you'll be dancing around with your hands up in the air by the end):

Simma down, son

Is it just me or is there something wrong with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Claudia Schiffer doing THIS kind of photoshoot together.
Isn't she old enough to be his mom?
Ok, maybe not. She would have been 11 when she had him...but still.
Maybe I just still picture him in 10 Things I Hate About You and 3rd Rock from the Sun.

*edit: Parker just brought something to my attention: I should not be talking. (I pretty much only date younger guys) Eeep. :-P

Bar none bar car

After almost a decade of traveling via MTA: Metro North, I never knew a single train ride could be so exciting. James and I might be taking the bar car from now on...just saying.

Setting: Metro North
Scene: the bar car

A vexatious woman, her husband, and child were jabbering away about whatever it was they were so buoyant about, when all the sudden, she fumbles in her seat. The half-full plastic cup of red wine she, one minute, had in her hand was now splattered all over the floor, her 10-year old son, James, and 2 other surrounding buisnessmen. She (over)apologetically wiped down the leg of one man's dockers and proceeded to mock the incident over and over again. Thankfully she left with her family after about 30 minutes.

Not too long after, we're at a stop, the doors open and people are exiting the train. Next thing you know, we hear "Stop the train! Help! My boy!" Or, at least, that's what I thought I heard. Apparently, a small child went after something he dropped on the track and fell in the crack between the train and the platform. They quickly retrieved the boy (he didn't fall all the way down), but sure caused enough excitement to get the conductor's attention and the passengers out of their seats. Phew, that was a close call.

Well the fun didn't stop there. Next thing we know, there is a full-on fist fight between two grown men. They were balding and in their 40's or 50's cursing up a storm and throwing punches at one another. All I kept thinking was: "OMG, do they have a gun?" I suppose that mean's I watch too much CSI and Law & Order? Anyway, two MTA employees broke them up, and wouldn't let anyone off the train until the police arrived to escort the two overbearing men off board.

But mom, the elephants made me late!

I swear, I'm not lying!

No, really, its true! I have proof!

The other night I was in a cab for 45 minutes (I'm too lazy to do the whole subway thing at 11:00 at night, especially when it takes an hour to get there) on my way to Angels & Kings. When I asked the cab driver what was taking so long, "Just go down 2nd Ave...it'll take 10 minutes!" I said. His response, at first, made me kind of angry.

I thought the he was messing with me when he said, "The animals are coming. The elephants are walking through the midtown tunnel." I mean, I know I'm gullible, but come on! In all my four years of living here, I have never heard such a thing! Little did I know, he wasn't just grinding my gears. He was telling the truth. When I got to AK and explained my story to Rob and Katie Brown, Rob totally confirmed that it was, in fact, true.

Of course, I didn't want to look totally stupid in case I was "falling for it" again, so I went home and googled that ish...lo and behold: Myth true! The dang Barnum Bailey circus and their elephants caused me to be tardy. Geez, this sounds worse than the "dog ate my homework" bit. I swear, after all my "late" excuses, this one was sure to get their eyes rolling, but hey, I have documented proof this time!

I forgot how much I love Spill Canvas

Saturday, I got to see them play at Irving, stirring up old memories in my head. It was nice, though, to just listen to some live music. I feel like it's been a while since I've been able to do that without being attached. I enjoyed it.

Angela and I decided it was "couples" night. Everywhere we looked were lovebirds hand-in-hand of a somewhat, very NYU-type crowd.

Yellowcard was headlining, so they came on last with an acoustic set to close the show. My favorite part was seeing a father lift his 10-year old daughter in his arms to see above the crowd. She was tapping her feet and singing along with Ryan's lyrics. She was so happy and excited; it was adorable.

After the show, Ang & I treated ourselves to a treat from Max Brenner (a brilliant Chocolatier <--- I made that word up...I think). Seriously though, if you've never been...you should defintely at least one point in your life. It is pure heaven. We skipped the chocolate waffles, chocolates pizzas, and more for a simple yummy cup of hot chocolate (basically fluffy warm chocolate that melts in your mouth). I went for the milk chocolate, coconut flavored brew made with soy.....mmmmmm. We loved it so much, we went again the next day.

Fred on Patrick

As much as I DESPISE the holiday....and though, the Vatican officially changed the date this year (yea, St. Patrick's day is not allowed to be in the same week as Easter hence why it was celebrated on Saturday), my boy, Fred wishes us a Happy St. Patrick's day.

PS...don't ever expect me to make a St. Patrick's day post again. Fred, I did this for you.
