Bamboozle 2010

And the time of year is here...when kids break out their favorite band t-shirts, get their farmers tan on, and listen to as many bands as they possibly could in a 48-hour period.

For me, bamboozle is somewhere I get to discover new music and hang out with old friends. Lately, I've been out of touch, so I had lots to catch up on.

We spent most of our day hanging in and outside of the Red Bull tent. Where it used to be thee location to party. ..not so much the case this year. Everyone just went there to fill up on drinks, and maybe grab a meatball or some veggies to munch on. Kinda lame and something they should work on for next year.

The real fun was obviously out in the sun.

I totally discovered Spose this bamboozle. His beats are catchy and the rhymes are clever. I may be late to the game on this one, but I'm obsessed with his single, "I'm Awesome." Must. Go. Check. Out. ...and become your favorite new jam of the summer.

This girl is my favorite, my bestie, my lazy day comrade, and so much more. Love her.

Somehow, I got lucky enough to get on stage to watch Drake's set and take a few shots. He had an insane crowd.

Even though Drake went over on his set time, Paramore still went on graciously afterwards and killed it, sending everyone home fully satisfied. I'm sad I have no photos of them, but I always have too much fun watching them play to take pictures.

Of course, the day left me way too exhausted to go for another, so no Sunday Bamboozle for me. I will get to say that I enjoyed attending Hoodwink, though (Friday night, pre-boozle style). Got to see a handful of bands play other bands' music. Obviously, my favorite was Motion City Soundtrack covering Nine Inch Nails. A solid set that I enjoyed though only knowing a few NIN songs. It sounded so rad to hear them a different brand. And then Saves The Day ended the night by covering another headliner, Weezer. Twas awesome and had fun dancing it out side stage with my ladies. Mucho amusement!

Misguided notions

I love covers...mainly from bands/artists covering other bands/artists, but every now and then, you hear one from someone you've never met or heard of. At first, you can become defensive (you don't want them ruining your favorite song, do you?). But then you listen, and you realize they're not half bad. Listen a little longer and you find yourself actually enjoying it. Now, before you know it, you wonder if it's possible that like your favorite song even more now. Of course, nothing compares to the original, but hearing it in a new way gives you another sense of appreciation for it. I know it does for me.

(PS...I can't say Misguided Ghosts is my favorite song off of Paramore's Brand New Eyes album, but I do love it very very much)

Slack Jack

Oh hello there, friends...

Mucho has been going on in my world, but nothing too exciting. Just workin like a bee, tryin to stay sane in this industry of hell. This is why I've slacked on the updates this past week. As you know, I didn't get to stop by Angels & Kings last night for Trainwreck, but I do promise to have Trainwreck/the Cartel Afterparty pictures up by sometime tonight...so check back later.

Oh, and in my last post, I lied...Paramore was not performing on TRL Tuesday, it's Thursday instead. They pre-recorded the show on Tuesday hence why I got a little confused. So now, if you missed both shows, you have one more chance! And, um, can we just talk about whatever happened to the "L" part in TRL? K thanks.

Anyways, they are home now enjoying some quick time off before they head out on yet again another tour, but here they are in Monday's performance on Conan.



PS...the sound wasn't that great. The band did an awesome job, but it sounded way too muffled and dry. For some reason, talk shows can't get it right when setting up rock music.

I can't believe I'm up this late (or this early?) but I'm here to tell you that you best be plopping yourself in front of the tube tomorrow...er, I mean tonight?

Conan O'Brien show...guess who's performing??? Yep, that's right...Paramore! Aren't you excited? Haha.

Yet again, I'm so stoked for them. They just flew in from Australia a few hours ago, so I hope they rest up. Jeremy's got a beard...like a real full grown beard. You gotta see it for yourself.

Annnnnnnd, if you don't watch tonight, we just aren't real friends. Performing is their forte...I promise you will love it. If for some reason (like your cat died or something) you miss it...they are performing on TRL (*edit*)Thursday (*edit*). Basically, you have no excuses but to see at least one of their performances. Now set those DVRs!
